I have 5 tridacnids in my tank right now, and all are flourishing. I also have a huge variety of hitchhiker life in my tank, of which some are concerning me. For example, I am always on the lookout for pyramidal snails on the clams, and have never found any. However, I have noticed on some of my snails, what exactly appears to be pyramidal snails. I have never seen the the snails on or near the clams, and the clams have never seemed in decline. I very may be losing snails, but I really dont keep track of them too much.
Has anyone heard or know about pyramidal snails that bother snails and not clams? Is there such a thing? Should I keep up the vigil on the clams? I am skeptical to constantly disrupt them if not necessary.

there are over 1000 different types of pyrams. some will attack snails. i would remove them the same way as you would from a clam

that depends on who you ask. Dr. Shimek will tell you that they are species specific. but i have heard may people say that they did in fact have them go from snails to clams.

as i said there are over 1000 types. im sure there are some that will only feed on clams, some that will only feed on snails, some that will feed on both, and some that wont touch either.

the best advise i can give is to remove them

I have been, and will continue doing so. They suck nearly as bad as the clam ones, because they have evene a better hiding spot than the clam pests. The snail reallyn hunker down and shield he pyram which congregate right at the operculum of the snail. My ornatissmus wrasse could see them, but not get to them.

I have tons of rissoid snails in my tank. They look like pryamid snails. I've seen them riding on my larger snails but have never seemed to hurt them.
