different shades of color on true percs

I have a 46 gallon bow front that has been up and running for a few months with some LPS, softies, etc. I have had a true perc in their for about 6-7 weeks and all has been well. I got another true perc today from a local reefer and put it in the tank. They are about the same size. Roughly 1-1.5 inches. The new fish is doing the normal submisive twitching thing and hopefully all will go well. My question is the clown I already had is much more orange colored than the new one. The new one is more yellowish than orange. Is this do to diet? I feed my clown flake food every day with an occasional meat food about once or twice a week. Will this new truew perc turn a darker orange color?

You need to feed it cyclopeeze to get it to turn more orange. Maybe feed it more meaty food instead of flakes too.

Mine are different colors, and have never changed. I've had these guys over a year.

Dave,

That is just how some clowns are. Some have the more yellow coloration through my experiences those come more from the Solomons. The deeper orange coloration I have found is found on fish from PNG.

I'm almost certain that your new clown will not turn the same color orange. You can look in my pictures and see how some clowns are different colors.

however I have found that a diet of well round proportion darkens all colors, but does not change them.
