difficult to keep small reef fish

I also want add to the list, orange spot filefish. I'd say small butterflies like the orange face butterfly (my avatar), but I'm no sure how small you mean by small.

Firefish... I've never been able to keep one long term... they always manage to jump out of the tank, kill each other, get killed by some other fish, or just disappear...

Feeling good that two of the fish mentioned in here (mandarin, firefish) are two that I've kept quite successfully. Was worried about the mandarin at first, but finally got him on frozen foods and he's really happy these days.

The easiest dragonet IMO. Takes to frozen quite readily but won't outcompete greedy feeders.

This is one species I currently recommend no one buy, period. I don't know that there's another fish I feel that way about. It's a shame because they're so pretty.
