Digital Aquatics Reef Keeper Elite ATO pump?

hello All,

I am in the process of installing my Digital Aquatics Reef Keeper Elite (RKE) controller and next on the list of things I want it to do is using it as an ATO control. I can purchase float switches for the system but there is not a specific pump to hook in. I was looking at the Tunze Osmolator Replacement pump but there is not a specific plug on the end of it. Does anyone know the voltage needed to run the pump. My searching online shows that it is 9vdc. Is this correct? If it is, has anyone tried hooking a wall pack powersupply to one of these pumps. I have a old HP laptop power cord that pushes 9.2vdc and thought that might work.
Has anyone tried doing something like this? Did it work? What pump would be an alternative?
Thanks for looking

Anyone at all have a pump recomendation for ATO? Looking of something small. What are you using and do you know the voltage?

Thanks

Thanks for the replies Everyone,

I had looked at the 50ml BRS doser and it was really a consideration but it is not recommended to run it for long periods of time (so says the salsperson at BRS) and the reviews I read are not so great for longevity.
I am curious about the Aqualifter. What is the lifespan of the Aqualifter? I am looking at 1 gallon a day of TO and also thinking of using it for Kalkwasser at some point. Will the pump hold up when using it to dose Kalkwasser?

Thanks Again everyone,
TOM G

I am using a sicci 1.5 plugged into slot 1 on the PC4 going through a two little fishies kw reactor, I really like this set up, with the RKE, you can monitor the PH and set up an alarm to shut off the ATO pum in case you overdose the kw

I like that idea, those pumps are fairly inexpensive too.

Thanks for the advice,

Well, I ended up using an aqualifter pump and could not be happier. With the low cost of the pump ($16 Amazon) I bought 2 to have one as a backup. I have it hooked to my RKE with a primary and backup Madison float switches and have not had one issue.

Thanks for the help everyone,

I have the same unit can anyone direct me on the programing of the ATO

Hope this helps -

Mount and Hard wire your float switches.

Plug your float switches into the SL1 module. Switch 1 (SW1) for primary and switch 2 (SW2) for secondary. Note that my floats are setup so that the switch is open when the float is in the down position and closed when in the up position.

From home screen-
1. Press Out
2. Select the PC4 module you are intending to plug the ATO pump into
3. Press enter
4. Select channel you are intending to plug your ATO pump into
5. Press enter
Now to set the following functions
1. For Mode select Auto
2. Press enter
3. For function select switch
4. Press enter
***NOTE***The following steps are to set up the switch
5. For Device select 01SWA (This is your primary float switch)
6. Press enter
7. For "On When" select "Closed"
8. Press enter
9. For timer select none (unless you have it hooked to something like a Kalk stirrer where you don't want to dose the sediment)
10. Press enter
11. For Device select 01SWB (This is for your secondary float switch)
12. Press enter
13. For Off When select Open
14. Press enter
15 Select arrow
16 Press enter
17. Select Save
18. Press enter

You can also set the default and alarm settings as you see the need. I have the alarm set so that if the secondary is in the open position I get a warning. This is not necessary but I think it is a good idea.

Hope this helps, if you have problems getting it to work send me a PM and contact # and I will walk you thru it.
