Hello,

What are the main differences between dynos and cyano, I mean visually.

I thought I was dealing with dinos but I'm not getting the air bubbles. It start off stringy but is now matting and when disturbed clumps the sand.

Thanks

+1 for the microscope. If it is dinos the microscope will also be helpful in identifying the species as they are all treated a little differently.

Yes cyano can be green, maroon and other colors (those 2 seem the most common)

Got a microscope? Easy to determine what you have from that..

I'm going to verify with microscope but I did do the test as per the link. I syphonned out some stringy matted material and shuck it up vigorously twice and not all the string bits broke up. I sieved it through paper towel and the water was clear. It's been sat on the side for 12 hours with no signs on reforming colonies.
