Somewhere on here are a couple threads where the general consensus seemed to be to not dip smooth skinned SPS. I don't have time to search for it (at work) but maybe somebody else can or you can give it a shot.
I agree that corals like echinatas don't dip well but it's still a must or quarantine like you said. I'd rather kill a frag or two then my whole tank to AEFW. Dipping a frag for a only a few seconds is pretty pointless.

I've dipped hawkins before...not sure if it's a true echinata but it's close. It sure ****ses them off but most make it. I do a 15 minute lugols or tmpcc
I've dipped a couple of smooth skinned acroporas in tmpcc. Haven't lost one yet. 10 min is enough if you shake the coral well enough to get all the little buggers off.
I dippied my hawkins and icefire in revive for 15 minutes and I used twice the recommended dose. My ice fire stn'd on me about 6 weeks of having it. Not sure if dipping it had anything to do with it.
My granulosa looks pretty stressed and some flesh is missing, but appears as if he's recovering. I'm starting to see polyps!! Not too sure with the ice fire..time will tell I guess
