Disappearing Fish

So I bought a goby, that seemed to be doing ok for the first couple days, but then it mysteriously disappeared. I dont think it could have been eaten, since all I have is a clown and some crabs... Im wondering if it might have dug under a rock and it collapsed on it or something.
Anyways, there's no sign of it, but what Im worried most is that he could still be in the tank dead somewhere making the water bad for the rest of my corals...

if you feel that this is the case than i would do some water changes more frequently. But more then likely he is hiding or made a hole under a rock and i living in there. He will pop up one day and you will go oh my god there he is.
good luck to you and hope it turns out for the best.

My Yellow watchmen does that as well. I will see a whole lot of him for a few days and then he will be missing for awhile and so on...

crabs can clean a fish completely in a matter of days. I had Pink spot goby and a diamond goby disappear completely on me in the past. Just be patient and also check around the tank and overflows just in case.

The funny thing is, then yesterday my clown was gone! I looked into the sump, and there he was. Is there a way to prevent them from going over the falls into the sump.

Still no sign of the goby and the sand is looking dirty, I need a cleaner not a hider. And it seems Id see him when I feed the tank, no?

dimond goby will clean your sand like crazy.
also put some plastic bird netting around your overflow and that should stop them from getting into your sump.

Everyone is pretty much telling me a 29g is not big enough for a Diamond Goby, and that was my past experience. He cleans the hell out of it and then starves to death. What is a better Goby to go with for a 29g?

Do your rocks sit on the glass with sand filled in? Or does the rock sit on the sand? If it is the second you cannot have gobies that dig.

Maybe he'll show up again, nano fish can be excellent at hiding! I had a dottyback that disappeared out of the blue one day! There was no sign of him for a while, but while I was feeding a few days later, he swam right out of a seashell! I have no idea why he was in there, but I was glad he was okay! :)

im going to take a guess that the goby will dig under the rock and knock them over?
