Disappearing shrimp

I have a 10G nano reef and just purchased 2 peppermint shrimp a little over a week ago. They hung around for 4-5 days, but all of a sudden, BOTH of them are missing.

I've overturned rocks and checked my HO refugium and they are nowhere to be found.

Has anyone encoutered this situation before?

The only tank mates are a few snails, blue legged hermits, and one percula clown about 1.5" long. The rest are various coral species - polyps, one brain, one bubble, mushrooms, candy canes, etc.

Thanks!

They may be living inside holes in your rock.

They can disappear when going through a molt and are fairly succeptible to predation at that time. If it were me, I would wait for a week and see if they pop out from somewhere.

They must have squeezed in tight, I looked around pretty thoroughly. One of them molted the first day I had him so I thought he'd be good for a bit.

It's funny because they each had a "spot" picked out where they always stayed, but now I can't find them anywhere. I'll just keep waiting and looking.

Thanks!

No, i don't keep it covered. I've looked all around my office and I don't see any shriveled up shrimp carcasses.
