Unfortunately the next showing of this is on March 11 @ 3am. I had the luck of seeing it this weekend on the scheduler so I set my DVR to record it! It was an hour long and it was AWESOME. I learned a lot! They showed some really cool stuff about reef's, fishies, corals, everything. They showed these huge acro's and how they grow, huge brain corals, millions of fish, it was just crazy. Anyone into reefing would absolutely LOVE this show.

I encourage all of you with HD tv's to somehow record and watch this, it's worth it.

If I knew how to get movies off of my DVR I would put this one on my pc and make it available to all because it was just THAT good.

have u seen that show 'aquariums' on inhd.. it shows different aquariums around the u.s. and what it takes to run them.. its a sweet show

Yes I seen the aquariums show. I am always looking for reef shows on HD watching them on a 53" is nice. My girlfriend thinks Im nuts because I will call out the name of everything I see.

I saw the Equator show too. It was awesome. I watched it twice so far. You get a real idea what the reef looks like and which corals grow where. They showed so many different types of fish too.

Many here were disappointed by the "aquarium" shows (one on PBS one on DiscoveryHD) but the "Equator" episode about the reef and reef fishes will satisfy the hobbyists here no doubt.

On 3/14 the "Okinawa Coral Treasures" on DiscoveryHD is also a must record show. If you have a cable HD DVR box, you can record onto a DVHS HDTV recorder using firewire connection, unless they flagged "copy-never".

I plan to record both shows onto my DVHS for later viewing.

Comcast Motorola DVR

You maybe in luck. Check out this site and its HDTV/HDTV Recorders section, I think there is a long discussion about Motorola DVR firewire recording to PC:

Also go check out the new Imax movie Deep Sea 3D. Definitely worth the price of admission!

Hopefully one day it will show up on cable's InHD channel as well. InHD has been running many IMAX movies, some of the best HDTV materials ever. Can't beat the real IMAX experience but the closest you can get.

Do I need to be subscribed to this channel? Can I still tune in, even if I don't have HDTV? I'm such a newb to all of this new technological home theater stuff and whatnot.

i'll have to check out avsforum.com, it would be sweet to see the vid available for download

Don't know if this will have any impact on recording to PC, but I transferred the "Equator: Reef of the Riches" on my DVR to my DVHS VCR, it played back fine on my tape but at the beginning of the playback the VCR said "downconvert to 480i" meaning the original program was flagged for no recording or limited recording.

My RCA digital VCR though saying 480i was actually playing back in 1080i HDTV. It ignores the flag which is a technical flaw that I am lucky to have. It is an earlier version of HD VCR so the copy protection scheme was not worked out yet.

For newer machines or PCs, the copy protection flag may not allow HD recording or HD playback, so ask some questions when you read that thread on AVSforum.com. The folks there are nuts about HDTV just as folks here are nuts about reef tanks.

i wonder why the sps dont RTN when they touch each other in the wild.. they just grow around each other
