So I thought it was Brooklynella, (backstory- Saturday got two little photon clowns; QT'ed in 15 gal hospital tank, Sunday the little one was covered in white spots (big one fine), Monday hung out under the filter head and in strong currents, Tuesday few spots- more like a white film, struggled to breath (still big one fine). Preformed a FW dip on Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon prepared to do formalin dip- but looked much better, ate a lot. This morning same as Tuesday afternoon, but even appeared to be a little better. So, the science teacher I am took a swab of the little guy and a few water samples. I've attached images. Please help! What do I do?

Not sure what that might be. It almost certainly is not Brooklynella hostilis, though. Brooklynella is pear-shaped and ciliated.

Thanks Chris, I thought so. No cilia here! So I'll omit the formalin dip. The fish are also still alive, (72 hours later) with only a FW dip. I'm assuming its something a little less invasive. Maybe ich? I can't find any good pictures though.

Doesn't look like any of the usual suspects (Cryptocaryon, Amyloodinium, Brooklynella, Uronema). Formalin dips may still be a good treatment, as it's pretty broad-spectrum.

Copper is dicey because if impairs the fish's immune system and has shown to be ineffective against pretty much everything but ich. So if it is then not effective against the infection the fish has, you may have just sealed his fate.

Formalin is an equal opportunity killer of all micro organisms it can reach (the catch with ich is that it is too deep in the skin) and fish in general tolerate it well if not overdosed. So I would still do a formalin dip.

The other thing I would try is a broad spectrum antibiotic.
