Dispar Anthias

I have 4 Bartlett Anthias is my 210 and was going to add 4 Dispars. They are feeding well at the pet store and getting them to eat is the biggest problem from what I read about these fish. Anyone have them, tried them or see any problems? Thanks.

I purchased mine from LiveAquaria. It was several days before i noticed them eating. They never looked thin. Now they eat pretty much anything. Mostly frozen foods is on the menu, Emerald green and mysis. I try not to use color bits due to phosphates & really drives skimmer nuts.

I feed once a day, sometimes twice a day and they do fine.

Your Bartletts will teach the Dispars to eat anything and everything, I have 4 Bartletts with 2 Dispars and 5 Carberry's. I found that Anthias feel comfortable around other Anthias and it helps in their transition to your aquarium.

Thanks, I'm going to pick them up this afternoon. It's good to hear that they'll be fine with the Bartletts. The tanks going to look sweet with all the Anthias in there, can't wait.
He also has Hutchii, I read their aggressive and should not be mixed with others, is this true.

I just got 2 dispar's on friday and havent seen either of them eat anything yet
they were eating at the lfs

Ive tried feeding brine shrimp and pellets

what is the best thing to start them on?

dispars are great fish....shy for the first couple days then will come out all the time

Picked up five today and have to say they are beautiful. They getting pushed around alittle by everyone, even by the Bartletts. Everyone should settle in by tommorrow I would think.

They are great fish. I agree with the above statement about them being shy at first. I have seven and it did not take long for the shyness to wear off. They are out most of the time. I found that they go nuts for Arcti-pods from Reef Nutrition.
Another interesting thing is I added two fire shrimp and they went nuts. Apparently they like to be clean because they will not leave the shrimp alone. They all sleep together, all seven and the two shrimp that is.

i had success getting all my anthias to eat using sweetwater zooplankton

Unless "sweetwater plankton" is a brand name, if I'm not mistaken, they're talking about daphnia....you should be able to find it by that name.
