Dispar Anthis is always hiding

I got this anthis out of my quarantine and into the DT two weeks and only comes out to feed. He eats pellets every day and Mysis once a week. Yesterday he would not come out at all. I used some mysis shrimp and he wont come out.

I know they are often intimidates. I have a corris wrasse, fire fish and two chromis.

The fish looks otherwise healthy. Just hiding deep on my live rock...with my fireshrimp that also only comes out to feed.

Is this typical? I know my wrasse hid for 3 weeks before he came out...

Do you only have one? They are a very social fish and having just one IMO is why the fish is likely hiding. The other possibility would be aggression from another fish, but with your fish I think it's more likely the social issue.

I agree with 29reef, if he is the only Anthia in your tank that's probably the reason he is hiding. We have four of them but started with three and one would always hide. Once we got the forth it started to come out with the others. So from my experience some might come out with just a couple while others need a larger group to feel more comfortable. I must add that they are very beautiful fishes when they are in a group, we love ours.

Oh Well...Came home from work and he was sucked up against my votech mp10 with some crab mouthfulls missing. Went to grab him and he was still slighly allive and the current blew him into the rocks where my emerals crab and fire shrimp started going to town on him. I can get to him so heis crab food until thel let him gi and the current blows him out...

I am sticking with hearty fish from now on...

IMO he either wasn't healthy or their was aggression from the wrasse. Both are surprising being that he just came out of quarantine and the tank isn't highly stocked.

In another thread it was suggested that they need to eat 4 times a day... If that is the case, no onder why so many reefers have nitrate battles.

I'm pretty sure there's people who feed their anthias once a day, and there's also people who feed four times a day and don't have nitrates.
