Display Gone Funky

Well, I have been using Neptune products for quite some time and upgrade to the Apex as soon as it came out last year.
I have an Apex, Apex Display, EB8, DC8 (2), WXM and Breakout Box connected and up until 3-4 weeks ago they worked well as expected.

3-4 weeks ago the Apex unit came up dead and I sent it into Neptune and it was fixed. I guess it needed rebooting/reprogramming or whatever, I didn't hear what the actual problem was. Anyways, Curt and crew responded quickly and the process took 2 weeks. As I am in Canada, shipping was 1 week each way.

It came back and everything seemed to be working other than it never picked up the DB8's and I have 3 Display modules registered with the unit. I deleted the extra Displays but one kept showing up as Address 2 and the DB8 have never showed up at all.

Now the above is still happening but the Display Unit has gone dim.....I can still make out the Main Page display but it is very dim.

ANY IDEAS? or another call to Neptune and go through this whole thing again and be without the CONTROLLER for 3 weeks.

Neptune can walk you through re-addressing the modules and eliminating the ghost modules. If you have telnet access working, they can do it themselves.

Not sure about the display. Could be a hardware problem but they can figure it out.

You have mixed the terminology a bit, so just to be clear: EB8's are smart and will auto configure. DC8s are legacy units and are not automatically recognized, you must install them manually. Via the webpage: Configuration > Module Setup. On the Module Setup page is a field to Add Module, select the appropriate staring address.

Todd, I realize there is mixed tech. however I neglected to tell you all in my original message when trying to add manually they do NOT get added or recognized.

You can't manually add an EB8 module. The only way it gets added (other than through a super-secret Neptune telnet command) is when you plug it in the first time or though a memory initialize where everything on the bus gets re-added. That module add is only for the legacy modules like the DC8 that Todd referred to.

Alan, the "THEY" in my previous message was for the DB8's. In my case the EB8 and the DB8's are NOT recognized. Even when I try and "ADD" the DB8 it does NOT.

Sorry for the confusion but I have been using Neptunes (3 generations) from the start many years ago.

If the display unit is dim you need a new backlight. Had mine go out on me. Contact Curt for an RMA #. You're Apex will still run without it.

Yep just about to post a kudos to Neptune for getting my light fixed and returned with 48 hours.
