Distance from light

I have 2 clams right now, a 2inch maxima and a 4 inch crocea. How far in the tank should they be from my 250mh. Its a 10k. Right now they are about 6 inches from the surface on top of my reef. What do you think?

They are definetely getting enough light. Do they look like they are happy where you have them?

Unless its really deep you should be able to put it anywhere.

The crocea I just added. The maxima moved it self so that is directly faceing the light strait up. I got the maxima free from someone that worked at fishstore because I give them my buisness. It was under a compact light and wasnt very colorful. Now undermine (mh250 10k)for 3 weeks it is green and blue. Alot more colorful. However, I think it may be bleaching. I can never get good shots with my dig cam even though it is a really good one. Just incase I moved my reef around a little bit. It was about 6 inches from the surface, now it is about 9. That doesn't sound lik a big change but it was an move by turning the rock it was on. Some of the green just started to yellow in a few spots. It still looks green, but that is the color it is turning. Right now it the few spots look a yello green.
