Hi, just wondering if the quarantining process for divers den hard corals means that they are guaranteed pest free. ie. acro eating flatworms, montipora infesting nudibranchs, etc. also predatory snails on tridachnids.

thank you very much

tadashi123,

Thank you for contacting us. All of the corals that we bring in to our Rhinelander Wisconsin facility are quarantined in a separate system upon arrival. In quarantine, we monitor and medicate the corals in order to alleviate pests such as Red Bugs. We work hand in hand with our staff of Veterinarians and compounding Pharmacists who are on site so that we have immediate access to the proper medications in specific dosages for the size of our system, or size of our dip/bath containers. After the corals have passed through quarantine they are moved and housed in one of our three main coral rows. From there these corals will be selected for sale in the Divers Den section of the LiveAquaria.com web site.

All of the staff here at Drs. Foster & Smith recognizes the need to properly quarantine aquaria so that we can offer the healthiest aquatic life available. It is important to point out that with all of the protocols we have in place, we still feed strongly that any aquatic life you bring into your home should be quarantined in a separate aquarium before placing these animals in the display aquarium. By incorporating this protocol at home, you will greatly reduce the likelihood of having problems down the road.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us.

thanks stacie, for providing insights to your quarantining procedure.
I personally inspect and dip new corals per your recommendation but i appreciate the assurance of "pre screened" specimens.

I am intending to order some divers den selections shortly. thanks again
