Divided leopard wrasse

I added a divided leopard wrasse in my tank today and he is no where to be found. The two other fish I added are out and about but nor the wrasse. How long do they usually hide and where do they usually hide?

It really varies with wrasse. I added two wrasses to my display last Wednesday and after a day the bluestar showed up for an hour or so and gradually increased his time out to the point that she is out till almost lights out.

The ornate that I have was added on the same day but stayed hidden for 3 days and after would only show up for 30-min to an hour max. Some days I wouldnt even see him because he would come out when I was out.

It's been a week and a half and he rarely stays out for more than a hour or two but today I saw him swimming all around the tank when I got home before he went back into hiding.

Just give it some time and dont worry about it too much. Just make sure youre water parameters are good.

They are a sand burying wrasse, most only stay biried for a few days, some can go for over 3 weeks. Whatever you do, dont go digging around looking for it.

She actually came out and looks great. I'm so happy about that. I haven't seen it in person out except when I put it in but on my camera she is. Hopefully she stays out for when I'm home to feed her

Totally serious about the time zone. I have experienced that eels- especially freshly caught ones seem to escape more in full moon and high tidal activity times-even in illinois!

How do these impact the pod population? Are they a main eater of pods typically?

Leopard wrasses are grazers of copepods. They will, once acclimated, however, eat pretty much whatever is supplied (although I have never seen one eat flake because I do not feed flake).

+1. You picked one of the harder wrasses to start off with. Plenty of good reading in that thread that you will need to know for that wrasse. Highly recommended that you check out that thread before getting anymore leopards. Some people get lucky, some don't, but if done right with a good level of experiecne, you have a higher chance of success...

I may have missed it, but is it already in your DT, or is it in a QT?

My Tamarin is definitely still in a different time zone after4 months.
I am in AZ and she gets up at 4:30AM and is buried by 5:15 PM.
My Red Coris wrasse is on a completely different schedule.
Must be a teenager because he rolls out of bed around noon and is up way past lights out at 10 PM

My wrasse is devouring the pods. I haven't had any luck getting her to eat frozen. Any tips? Im ordering more pods because Im afraid she is going to take out too many pods and my mandarin will be left hungry.

Nutra-mar Ova as they cannot resist this stuff! Hopefully it's in stock!

Live black worms, gut loaded brine shrimp, PE Mysis, hakari Mysis, Selcon.

I have PE mysid, nutramar ova and selcon as well as brine shrimp. Hasn't touched it. Where can I get live black worms? She is eating a ton of pods and is really healthy. She was like a ping pong ball off the glass pecking pods last night.

Im guessing when I get my other fish into the tank and she sees them eating the other foods she will try as well. Right now its just her and a mandarin
