Nice job calvin415, cant wait to see the base. I'm buying my first house in 6 months and I cant wait to start remodeling. Which project first?:D Nice utilization of space too. Really creative.

hehe...sorry guys, had to do it :D

Thanks guys! Yoda that's funny bro! LOL!!!

I'll get some more pics as things progress, my buddy works crazy and varying hours so finding time to get together really is a challenge... I primed and painted the doors last night, but realized we bought the wrong hinges so back to Lowes I go. :) The base won't get started until this weekend (most likely) as we won't have the PM until then.

So here my next question... If this were your tank and based on the current conditions, lighting, filtration etc... How would you stock this tank? Corals, fish, inverts etc... I want to get as many ideas as I can. Let me know your thoughts and as an incentive if we get a proposal we end up going with, I'll send you some SPS frags for free (you pay for shipping method of your choice)... What do you say?

I thought this was going to be a fish-only?

I would really worry about temp issues in that window well with that small a volume of water. Not only heat (what direction does that window face) but also our swell Colorado -10 degree winter nights (only one or two a year, but still....) I think I would stick with the FO for that reason alone.

(BTW, Hi Eric! Nice tank!)

I'd be wary about putting a pygmy angel in there - they usually need a lot more room.

With all that sand space, a pair of sand-dwelling gobies would be pretty neat, and I agree on a school of chromis, but you could probably only cram about 3 in there, and maybe not even that many - they'll pick on the smallest until they're down to a comfortable number for the tank size they're in - I started with 10 in my 65 and now I'm down to 4 - stable for a few months now. I've talked with others in the area who have had very similar results.

Going with a moderate number (5-8) of very small fish; All under 5 inches, with most under 2" will probably give a nice active tank without a unmanageable bio-load

Thanks Yoda, just practice on some small pieces, cutting, sanding, finishing and welding... It's not too tough and well worth the savings doing it yourself. :)

LOL! Thank Umm, fish? :) The window faces NW so too much light really isn't an issue plus it will be shielded w/ 3/4" piece of MDF when we're done. The cool is easily handled with a heater and I don't anticipate any heat issues in the summer, his condo's pretty cool (very new and well insulated against the environment. :) ) and the canopy has plenty of room for fans if it's needed. Besides I don't think softies are too picky and most LPS are pretty hardy too... I don't think he'll be trying SPS anytime soon. We could end up going fish only, but again if it's your tank what would you do? FOWLR what fish? Reef, what corals and fish?

I would make it a goby/jawfish/blenny tank.

- blue dot jaw
- pearly jaw
- yellow clown goby
- green clown goby
- panda goby
- helreichi firefish

then some sexy shrimp, a cleaner shrimp, and some other intresting inverts.. That tank is very sweet, I like it alot, and it will make washing the dishes much funner.. Great work, mucho props.

Not a bad idea... Except the Blue Dot would not allow a Pearly in the same tank, not to mention the $$ of the Blue Dot and the Helfrichi. Maybe a pair of Pearly's and a Purple instead of Helfrichi...

Thanks!

Ricordia tank with a couple seahorses, maybe a firefish or the jawfish, and a fire shrimp.

ok then, a pair of purple firefish and a yashi hashi goby and pistol shrimp, decorate it with a fringe of red grape caulerpa ( use one 6700k VHO at least to keep these growing strong) and then decorate with your favorite LPS througout.

go with a MJ1200 and a MJ900 hooked up with two SQUID's at either end to vary it up a bit.

.03+;)
