DIY 92 Corner Bow Hood

Looks good, Brian. I like the doors and the way you arranged the lights. Make sure to acclimate the corals to your new lights if you haven't yet done that.

MAN....that's a sweet setup right there. I really like the aquascapin' and I like how you did the lights. Nice job on the build too. Gotta question. I didn't see any fans. Are they not needed since you got the egg crate on the top?

Steve,
I did the egg crate so that I wouldn't need them. They still say that you are supposed to run fans with T5's (keeping them cool is supposed to help extend the life of the bulb) but they seem to stay pretty cool this way. I might still install some smaller fans, but the open top will definitely let me run smaller ones (i.e., quieter). I didn't want a prop plane installed in my kitchen... hard to pull off a romantic dinner when it sounds like you're on a runway (I'm sure my girlfriend is reading this going "WHAT ROMANTIC DINNERS?!?!?!?").

Tank looks great! I got some small cheap fans at target that are quiet and directional. They have a small metal base and I used that metal pipe hanging stuff with holes in it to screw down the base upside down to the canopy in my freinds 29.

(I'm sure my girlfriend is reading this going "WHAT ROMANTIC DINNERS?!?!?!?").

Exactly correct on that one. I read "romantic dinners" and laughed out loud...

All the money that would normally be spent on romantic dinners is redirected into "Hey, look at this awesome plate coral!!" or "Honey, I just bought the coolest wrasse!!"

If you saw my tank in the kitchen you must have seen the hood, because I did the hood before I put anything in the tank.
