DIY drain for skimmer

So my PSK 75 skimmer is filling up so fast I have to clean it every day and its kind of getting annoying. I was thinking about drilling the cup and fitting it to a 1/8 inch line so the skimmate drains into a larger container. Any tips?

One of the best investments I've made is a float switch in the skimmate bucket to shut down the skimmer when it's full(switch opens on rise). It has saved me many disasters!

I completely second the float switch wired into my reef keeper to shut down the skimmer when it is full. I learned long ago that if a skimmer starts puking there is no secondary container large enough to catch it all.

Avast has (and so do I) a Davy Jones Skimmate Locker.
If it fills, It shuts off the skimmer Via a pressure switch.
The connection tube wasn't on in the pic but it is now and works great.
I keep it half full so like today, my skimmer went nuts and over filled, filled the locker and shut off the skimmer. The skim doesn't end up back in your tank.

Drill and tap the collection cup, be careful that you don't crack it drilling it. Use a plastic fitting with the same thread attached to a hose going to a 3 gal bucket, can even put a float in the lid as suggested to turn off your skimmer pump when it fills. On a side not I believe if you put some baking soda in the bucket it takes care of the stench of 3 gal of fish poo
