John, your box is full... I owe you a meter. I broke it and glued it back, works fine- But I return property in the same shape as I recieved it. lost your snail, forgot your fish, and broke your METER, Man can you have any better friends:lol2: I allready planned to order a RMA-22 for me.. You want the MMA-7 or ? BTW, if you want to see the gen-x n/w's I had a 6000 in the bucket last night.. If I remember right, its like the OR but also has little "spikes" or "thorns" on the sides of each spike..

Hey Charlie,

It's allright, that JG fitting can be pretty tough on that flowmeter. Those flowmeters aren't the toughest things around. Hehe

I'll pick it up when I'm back in Richmond, but for now, just hold onto it and test flows for your pumps.

It may not work well in this DIY setup, but there is a reason that all skimmer manufacturer's use a venturi on the inlet rather than just sticking an angled tube in the inlet of the skimmer and that is to increase airflow into the skimmer.

It's simple bernoulli's principle. If properly designed and suited for a pump, a venturi will be far more effective than just stuffing a tube into the skimmer's inlet. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Rufio, I agree completely.


Theres just the large assumption there that these are properly designed and matched to the pump.
(That assumption has proved false with the majority of aquarium equipment I have looked at)


also, for accuracy purposes, just sticking an airline into the inlet of the pump IS a venturi.

It is....The air inlet goes where the restriction is. That is generally what the units that are on the skimmer inlet look like, though typically much shorter.
