DIY Filter Sock Holder Idea?

I was planning on making a diy filter sock holder using a piece of a soda bottle (rinsed of course). Will this leach anything dangerous?

i used a light diffuser (egg crate) and cut out a hole for the filter sock to sit in and now if my sock ever overflows it dosen't make a huge mess on the floor.

thanks crazyzoa i was just more concerned long-term since some bottles expire after a couple years, but ya that was my thinking as well.

and mark p i would have liked to do that, but i dont have a space for the egg crate to span the entire sump.

Maybe it was so unstable that it flooded the entire house, drowning the poor guy....

I just use a zip tie and connect it on the pipe. From looking peoples set ups I fell like I am the only person who does this.
