DIY Glass Tanks

Anyone know of any good links for this? Most of the ones in the sticky in the DIY forum are dead.
Also, anyone locally ever built their own locally? Where'd you get the glass, and get it cut?
Finally, if using a pre-fab'd glass tank for a sump, can you add acrylic baffles? Using what adhesive?Silicone?
Thanks,
Adam

On your last question, you can use silicone to glue acrylic baffles into a sump. With a baffle you're really only supporting the weight of the acrylic which silicone can handle :)

Look here under the plywood section. www.fingerlakesreef.com alot of builds going on there.

In the Rochester area skill glass in Honeoye is the cheapest- I called almost everyone in the area looking for a quote on a 24"x48" piece of glass and they beat everyone significantly at least $10 a piece if I remember correctly. I posted the results but they are probably buried if someone wants to search and dig it out.

here were the results:

Here are some of the prices that I have come up with for a 24"x 48" piece of 1/4" plain ol' plate glass w/seamed edge.
General Glass- $48
Genesee Glass- $42
Glass Act (Livonia)- $44
Skill Glass (Honeoye)- $30.80
Pleasant View Glass (N. Chili) - $55
Rochester Auto Glass (Near Kodak)- $48
Flower City Glass (Roch. Dept.) - $37.60
Mr.Glass (near Auditorium Theatre)- $45
Ray Sands (Canandaigua) - $88

Thanks! Is there a "standard" size, kindof like a sheet of plywood, that I could just buy and get cut? I figure that will be cheapest. Hopefully my dad can get some free from a demo job.

I think so and I think that it's 48 x 96 but I might be confused here. I may have it confused with acrylic. But I don't think that there is much of a cost savings in not having it cut unless you add rounded edges or something. But you really want to have it done professionally because if you don't get a seamed edge, you can't really handle it without getting cut, unless you wear leather gloves.
