In the process of setting up my new tank I going to have a lot of diy projects. here is the first piece of equipment I made. I took the design from this kalk reactor.

here are some pics of the initial parts made

It is made from 6" pvc, 1/2" pvc parts and 1/4" acrylic. The pump is a mj600

Here is a pic of the inside bottom

Here is a pic of the top being glued on I used weld #16. The metal bolts are there to help me align the top and will be replaced with nylon bolts. The acrylic is taped 1/4 - 20 thread.

Here is the gasket I made with gasket material from aquatic eco systems.

The whole thing cost less that $40 in materials used. I still have to put together the auto top off float switch, which might get done this weekend. The mj 600 will be controled by a digital timer to come on a few times a day. I am going to try and rig a mj 1200 to feed it. If that does not work I'm going to get a doseing pump. What do you think, feel free to ask any questions.

May not be what you want but I saw a medical pump in the selling forums. If I ever upgrade I may call on you to help build one of these.

Is weldon #16 the one specifically made for pvc/acrylic junctions? Without looking myself, I thought it was a different one.

From what I have found 16 is made for acrylic and pvc and a few other plastics. I think there is also 40/42 which is made for this purpose, 16 is thicker and fills gaps better, saw blade groves, thats why I chose 16.

I've used #16 to reinforce PVC/acrylic junctions that have been previously glued. I was just curious what you have read. So far so good.
