Different models like XP-E or XT-E have different characteristics. Rapidled has links to data sheets from CREE.
If you're going with all RapidLED LEDs, you'll get XP-E Blue and XT-E Royal Blue probably.
The blue XP-E has a wavelength of about 465nm, while the RB XT-E has a wavelength of 450nm. There are slight differences in forward voltage, viewing angle, and some other stuff. I'd wager that most people care most about the spectrum though. They want to avoid the monochromatic look.
If you want to know more, check out the data sheets that RapidLED link to, and if you have any specific questions, go ahead and ask.
Also, you can definitely see a difference between the royal blue and the blue. Once they go through the water, they tend to blend together though. If you're happy with the color, don't bother replacing them.
Royal blue comes closer to giving a deeper actinic "pop" while (plain) blue tends to just add a lot of bright blue light to the tank. RBs sometimes appear dimmer because the wavelength is lower (which is why they're rated in mW output instead of lm; the lm scale is weighted according to intensity to the human eye).
Again though it's all very much a personal preference thing, if you're happy with the looks and growth, go with it.
the only reason im adding more blue leds is becouse im trying to get a 16k looking spectrum right now i would have to say my tank looks more around10k 0r 12k some of the corals look kinda bland so i want more blue to the spectrum so would the blues do it or the royal blues lol im kinda confused now
yeah i think they are just the regualar blues i dont remember what i purchased when i built it im going to try the royal blues worst case i can sell them
