DIY LED Lights

Anyone do their own LED lights for their tank? I have a friend who is really good with electronics, and he actually makes stuff with LED lights, and he said he could build something for me. I didnt know if it would be cheaper to build or is there some that are reasonable?

My LEDs are DIY and I'm very happy with them. Wasn't very difficult to do just do a lot of research.

Bumps to the dyi guys - I have aqua illumination sol blue - they are pretty $$ Bc I need 2 but the contoler is amazing all 3 type of lights white blue royal blue can be independent and come on whenever from 0-100% -
no clue id u can get a controller fir.dyi?

I do the same with my rapid DIY set up, using my reef keeper.

+1 on the DIY. If I had to do it over again i would of made mine for my 180 instead of buying LED fixtures.

I have 4 blue led strips with 3 lights on each that I got from Regal Plastic when they had them used. I just use a walwart for power and they make a great nightlight. I have like $20 invested in it.

Mine are DIY, also using a Reefkeeper ALC module to dim them.
