My leds quite shining, they are very dim. I would like to know how to tell if a led would work for our tank. Radio shack has some ultra-bright blues that looks great. Thanks for some info.

It would all depend what the Spectrum of the LED is things like Kelvin degrees and Wattage also what kind of Optics are on them.
I am far from an expert but these are some of the things you will want to know.

Yep, there are a few people in MTRC that know a lot about LEDs. I've built a fixture in the past and am building a smaller one now. I would pass on the Radio shack LEDs and read up a little more. What kind of LEDs did you have before?

Current outer orbit is the light fixture we have. I have already installed them. they look good but not enough light. We are watching the tank very closely.
