DIY Lumen Brights

So I am building my own Lumen Brights with solar tube extensions. I just made a mock-up with poaster board and have a small problem. My tank is built into the wall in my room in the basement. The tank sits on the crawl space behind my room. There is a beem going right over the tank so because of this I can only get it about 8" above the tank. This is if it is center over the tank. I can go another 6-8" higher but then it would be about 4 inches off center and I would lose a lot of light. I could also angle it towards the light but don't like this option as much either. Will these reflectors be fine only being about 8" above the tank?

It will work but you don't get the proper "spread" as if you were running it at 16 inches off the water surface. Hope that helps, Wiz

ok thanks but even at 8" up I should still see an improvement over the reflectors in a fixture right?

Definitely, but i just don't know how much will it spread.

Well These reflectors are pretty big so the pretty much cover the top surface of the tank
