DIY MaxiJet Stream (Pic Intense)

Dropping in for a short explination of my dissapearance!!!

Sorry for being away so long. As most of you know my Grandfather has been in the hospital for some time now. He is still in ICU and the Dr's keep telling us it is a matter of days. I blelieved I explained before that he only has one lung, well, now he has gotten some type of nemonia that fills the lungs up with fluid, and the Dr's said that people with 2 lungs usually die form this simply because the medicine they give for it just can't keep up.

I apologize for missing out on the forum as I see alot of people are posting and having some issues with this mod. I unfortunetly do not have the time right now to answer these questions but please be patient and after everything settles down here, I will get back on on a daily basis.

For those who have contacted me via email for this mod. I have not forgotten you, however due to everything that is going on, I have not had time to work on more mods either. I have all the parts in, just need time to work on them. After things settle down here, I will contact everyone to see if they are still interested. I apologize for the delay in these, and the lack of email contact. This who have followed this post know I am very good about responding so please do not hold this against me. I simply must spend as much time with my family and my grandfather as possible.

For all those who have sent support either through email or prayers I thank you. God has been blessing us everyday that he gives us one more day. He has even done what I thought was the impossible and given my Grandmother the piece she needs to finaly accept what is inevitable (spelling). All this has only strengthend my Faith that I serve an Awsome God who certainly does answer prayer. Some may ask why would God alow such things but there is purpose in everything. In all this time we have seen nurses and Dr's touched and amazed at what God has done for my Grandfather and our family. Again I thank you all for your prayers.

I will try and get on again as soon as possible and give some answers to the questions that have been asked. I hope everyone has a great weekend and may God bless you all.

check out the same place where you got the props. I'm sure they have the moly washers there. The ones i got came in a pack of 4 2 moly 2 steel just use the moly. You need to bore out the hole in the moly and probably look at the bottom of the mag unit. It probably needs some filing work to get smooth.

First things first,Wayne. You take care of yourself and spend as much time as you can with your Grandfather.I am still praying for him each night.

I have been sitting here reading these posts and I am thinking why reinvent the wheel. The rio seio puts out maybe more than these modified maxi jets and it would definately be more reliable I think. Plus they seem to be priced within the reach of most reefers. On the other hand I do love a good DIY project.

Why? Because its fun! I really dont mean to be a smartass with that statement either. I agree, for the cost, its just a little more for a verys imilar thing, but DIYing it is fun. Some people also have a beef with using Rio products.

Wayne, take your time. I'm in no rush and am willing to match whatever schedule you have.

I just got off the phone with my dad yesterday. He's been so sick lately that he thought that his time was up. After lots of tests, it turns out it wasn't fatal after all, but he was pretty much convinced it was. I anticipate a full recovery for him. Health comes first, after all.

I agree it is fun to try a new DIY and I am always amazed to see what we reefers come up with. Take care all and my prayers are with your grandfather and all who are in failing health, god bless.

Mopecula,

Fan prop powerheads are way more efficient than the turbine dependent Seios. You will move as much water w/ a nice fan prop when compared to the Seios turbine at half the energy cost.

Peace,
John H.

Just want to say thank you for spending a lot of time to bring this DIY to us... I am going to go get it done!

They have the same energy consupmtion. Maxijet 600 is rated at 7.5 watts, and the Seio m620 is at 8 watts.respectively. Although, it would be very interesting to find out just how much this bad boy does move ;)

Justin74,

They have the same energy consumption when just looking at the numbers, but in actuality, the modded Maxijet 600 looks like it puts out substantially more flow than the Seio 620 does. A Seio 620 would not move water like that depicted in the videos, not even close.

My original point is that the fan prop is more efficient than the turbine of the Seio design. ;)

Peace,
John H.

Just want to say thank you to Wayne and all others for spending a lot of time to bring this DIY project for everyone. It worked better than I expected. Thanks. I made several Maxi-jet steamer based on Wayne design and supply list. I only made one modification because I had a hard time locating 3/32ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ metal rod. I used Carbon Fiber rod .098ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ OD at the hobbies store. I also made one housing from burned out SEIO pump, but did not use turbine impeller due to Maxi-jet reverse power surge. The impeller would get stuck every time it went on reverse.

Really digging on that clear housing blue:thumbsup: ,do you or anyone forsee any problems using the carbon rods?Seems like a perfect choice unless they react and wear differently in salt?Getting ready to try this with a penguin pump I got layin around, and everything so far looks almost identical in terms of parts and sizes

justin, it should be any problem at all, they even make sail boats out of carbon fiber for the america's cup race. It will just be lighter then ss more then likely, not that it really matter. There shouldn't be any possible reaction with the water, since it is an epoxy of sorts. Not sure what it is exactly classified as though.

My handlebars are made from the stuff, so I can vouge for its strength, but it does flex. Its worth a shot, still scoutin for hobby stores, saw some elite racing props on line for no more than a couple bucks so, might have to that rout if I cant find the stuff I need locally.Im really slow when it comes to mechanical creativity but as soon as I finish Ill drop back in and show mine. Everyone else churnin along with no problems?

-Justin

justin, I have carbon fiber handle bars, yeah they do flex a little, but so did the aluminum ones I used to have. I still haven't gotten around to trying to make one of these jokers, but should soon.
