DIY MaxiJet Stream (Pic Intense)

Many have been waiting to see the new impellor.

It was created on a CnC thread grinder. The impellor is 1.312 in diameter with a pitch of 1.5

I couldn't be more happy with the result.

I am going to add a stopper to my mod which I hope to get finished this coming week.

I agree, that new CNC cut fan prop looks quite nice. It would be great to have a stopper made for these mods as you could then put it on a wavetimer without worrying about chewing up your livestock. :)

Peace,

Anybody ever get this mod to work on a Penguine 550

Anybody ever get this mod to work on a Penguine 550

Has anyone ever been able to get this mod to work on a Penguin 550. I have one working on a Maxijet 900, and really like it.

I spent the weekend trying to mod a penguin 550 and it seemed like no matter what I did I couldn't get the thing to work.

It would spin great when it was partially submerged in the water, but as soon as I fully submerged it, it would keep changing directions about once a second.

Just curious if anyone had gotten this pump to work.

Nice mill job on that. I see that using the continuous screw is working out for you then. Did you sharpen the blade as well? They still looked a bit thick but would ok if you sharpen it to cut down on resistance.

Also if you want to make a stopper for this, you will need to make your propeller assembly much shorter than that. As is there is not enough room for the propeller to correct its spin.

When I have enough impellors made I'm going to start sending new ones to everyone who doesn't have them yet.

I've already got a mock-up mod with a stopper that works fine. It just takes time to incorporate it into the design.

matt....let us know when the new ones are available....we're very interested.

anyone do this on smaller pumps like mini/microjets?

eric&flint

I suppose you could use any pump or powerhead to do this but the MiniJet or MicroJet pumps just aren't as versatile as the Maxijet versions and a lot tougher to fashion/build a housing for.

If you want less flow, go with a Maxijet 400 or Maxijet 600 instead.

I have 2 MJ400's running in my 55g creating plenty of flow.

Any updates on the mod/shipments?

Would this fit on a MJ 600? If so I would like to get a pair to zip 85204.
