DIY MaxiJet Stream (Pic Intense)

I'd say if you're going to order a bunch of them, someplace would be willing to cut you a deal on a bulk order. I would suggest trying Premium or your LFS.

I believe Drs Foster & Smith had a Maxijet sale recently. Or maybe it was PetWarehouse...man, I can't recall.

Wayne-
What do you mean when you say siphoning effect?

I am talking abou the mini tornado look from where it is sucking in so much water. Creating a small whirlpool that sucks in some of the air as well. It is usually very brief, however with a 1200 it may be more constant. To fix this, I may try larger holes, or many small holes. Not quite sure yet how I am going to work this out.

Also, Just wanted to let everyone know, I checked all the hobbie sites I could find last night and everyone is out of this particular propellor untill the late juy. I went ahead and put a large order in with towerhobbies.com But I have no idea when they will be in. So shipping of the mod will have to wait untill I get these in. Sorry for the wait. I am also going to storm the LHS and try to get some, I will deliver them in the order I recieved the request.

Wayne,
The Tunze design has no intake at the top to prevent sucking air.If you leave off the top row of holes,it should solve this problem.

Good to know, thanks for the info. I will look into how to make this work for everyone as mounting positions will vary.

Could you give a part nuimber or the pitch of the propellor? I checked Tower Hobbies and they did not have any propellors listed under Aquacraft Hammer. I am thinking about giving this a try and this is the only part that I was unsure of.

Great thread.
Thanks.

I will give you the partnumber when I get home. I also am ordering from Tower Hobbies so I know they carry them, however, they are out of stock.

Wayne, great mod and thanks for the thread. I am confused, the adapter is 1.25 and the test plug that fits inside the adapter is 1.5 ?? I looked a few times at the picture, is that correct?

Thanks for the great thread and idea. I have completed my first attempt at your mod after several failed trips to Home Depot....... I have everything working except for the fact that it is basically running backwards. Its blowing water thru the drilled holes. I tried flipping the propellers with no luck and i have decided that it must be a problem in my actual prop choice... ( we didnt have the one you mentioned and i settled for a "Pro Boat 1:12 Miss Bud, PRB2213". I will include a few pics of my attempt just for others to view. (BTW - I did this on a MJ1200).

Thanks again for the great mod and any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

backwards

backwards

Mikebranson, stop the prop and see it it starts the correct way. Without a anti-reverse guard it can spin backwards on you. I am using the Miss Bud prop on a 900 with no stop and it is running great.

Wayne, awsome mod, I'm going to try and get the parts for mine maybe today. I'm wondering what the size of the holes are on the adapter though. Any input would be great. Thanks

1.25 is the diameter of the PVC Pipe, not the length The actual lenth on the PVC pipe is 2 1/8th.

Hope that helps.

The part number on that is HCAB7765 .

Now, one thing you may want ot think about, is this is just a 2 blade prop. You may be able to find a high performance 3 or 4 blade about the same size, not sure if those blades would slow down the magnet though. I may test that on a few of the builds.

Do like the one person said, stick your finger in it and stop it, you will feel it change directions. Once you get it working, let me know, I would like to know what a 1200 is doing....

I have a TS24 stream kit and when I first got them and was looking, I was wondering why the top part didnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t have any slits in it, now I know :)

Thanks for the info...
