DIY MaxiJet Stream (Pic Intense)

Securing propeller onto rigid airline tubing:

I have made 3 successful MJ900 mods - so, first off, thank to ALL of you who have given so much time on this project!!!

However, two of my mods had problems keeping the propeller on the airline tubing: I cleaned it first with Alcohol ( denatured ), then used Weldon.

The 4th mod I did this weekend I actually melted the end of the prop and the tubing together ( obviously leaving a central hole).

How do you all keep the prop in place?

Better yet break off the plastic ends on the magnet and press the rigid tube (or CF tube) right into the magnet. See the hellishly long thread for details.

I actually read that portion a while back and was a tad afraid to do so - you do break off the end and the magnet doesn't object?

just a thought
(i have no experience in this diy project)
the airline goes through the prop right?
if so y not drill a small hole through both and glue a pin through it
Hopefully i did read this project right.
if not disregard my thoughts hehe

That won't work for one reason. The rigid tube must be hollow so that the stainless steel center rod can spin inside it.

I apologize if this is a re-ask, but do you think it would be a problem to attach that cross-stitching plastic waffle stuff in a long tube to these powerheads?
By problem I mean, impeding the performance of it.

And, is that the only way to make them anemone friendly?

I suppose you could use the plastic rain gutter mesh to make this. No pumps and powerheads are 100% anemone safe though IME. An anemone can get stuck in just about anywhere that has water suction no matter how small.

I built one with the plastic needle point mesh wrapped around it. Works ok - I'm running a mj 1200 w/ a octura 1435. I think that it is limiting the potential of my mod - I think it restricts the intake.

I'd like a bit of compairison. I don't remember where I saw the mod, but here's what I did. Take a MJ1200, hack off the exit spout, and drill holes around the bottom. This allows less restriction and more water in the intake. How does this compare? Is it still dramatically less than this mod?

The difference is HUGE IME between the cut off nozzle mod and the propeller mod with the prop mod producing much more and wider dispursed flow.

chem Fun - I did that mod . after I whacked off the nozzle there was no direction. If the power blinked the prop would spin other way and blow corals over . some tanks it may work ok , but mine it just didnt work out. The mj 1200 mod with prop worked well with the flow. Great in fact, im just having problems with noise. on and off rattling, but I havnt had time to find the problem.

Have you considered using this instead of a wave maker?

it's so much better IMO

Now that the propeller mod has been remade so many times in this forum, would anyone, who has succesfully created a Maxi Jet 1200 Mod, mind posting a materials list (with suppliers if possible)?

Thanks.

Anyone looking for 316L stainless? Easy, check out stainless welding filler rod! Any welding supply will have it in all sorts of dia.s Good luck!

Right hand propellers

Right hand propellers

Hello, I have made some of this pumps mods.
I live in Argentina and here we have 220v 50hz, I do not known why but if you start pump here the 99% of the time it starts spinning on the right.
I want to ask If there are props like the dummas 3004 that are right hand.
I can see that If use a right hand proppeller I can solve the problem of start clokwise...
thanks
diego
