DIY Moon Lights

I purchased a nice strip of waterproof/dimmable blue LEDS off eBay with a remote for $18.99 shipped. This was a very simple and quick moon light build took about 15 minutes total. The LEDS are in a strip of Silicon and every few inches they are marked and can be cut to size with a pair of scissors. The back of the LEDs have 3M adhesive on them for quick peel and stick application. I added a zip tie about every 3" - 4" incase the adhesive failed, a couple pieces of PVC and you have a nice portable easy moon light build. Here are a few Pictures.

It is a nice, simple, cheap build :)

A word of warning tho - I had a similar (maybe not exactly the same) LED strip in the conservatory and it started to fail after a year or so, without as much use as night lights are likely to get, and without being near any water!

The actual LED strips are even cheaper on their own, if you do have to replace it :)

Oh, and from a few other peoples comments, it's not a question of if the adhesive will fail, just when it will fail. I didn't even use the adhesive and just relied on cable ties.

Yeah the adhesive is not very good that's why I added the zip ties. As far as life span time will tell. I plan on buying an LED fixture in the near future with built in moon lights/dimmer/timers. I am still deciding to switch from T5 to LEDs, I still have my mixed concerns and doubts for a full light LED system.

Generally LEDs can produce any wavelength at better efficiency than other light sources. They are the best at their job. Working out which LEDs to use on a DIY rig or finding an off the shelf that does it right? That's a different matter!

DIY is better (IMO) and there are folks around here who will help with tbe choice of LEDs :)

And any other advice you need!!
