diy skimmer

i am building a sailmans skimmer but it says i need 3 wooden air stones. does anybody know if i can use reg air stones from the pet store. and if so how big? how much air would i need for a 4" pipe 4foot tall?

You better off using lime wood air diffusers, the creat a finer bubble than your average air stone. Your LFS may carry them but I know you can get them from Marindepot or That fish place or another large mail order comapny.
