Update again, things are going VERY fast
3/22 started cycle on bucket running full open nitrates at ~20
3/24 lowered flow to 1 dps
3/25 Effluent 0 bucket ~20 upped to 2 dps
3/26 Effluent 0 bucket ~20 upped to 4 dps
3/27 Effluent 0 bucket 10 upped to 6 dps
3/28 Effluent 0 bucket 0
3/29 tightened it all down and moved it onto the tank currently running nitrates of about 30, flow at 1 dps
I will preform a 50% water change this weekend as well to speed things up, and well its time for one anyway.

EnderG60------excellant, now watch your effluent for Nitrite as your Tank parms are much higher than your bucket, just before switching to the tank. I say this because while I intended to post my recent results I have run into a snag, but more about that when I figure out my next move. The good news in your case is that your tank Nitrates are "only" about 30 ppm.:mixed: :mixed:

nu2..............positively NOT, the "only goal" of sulfur denitrafication is just that, an efficent method of reducing or eliminating Nitrate. Water changes will always be required to replenish the " elements" that our live stock consume on an going basis.............:mixed: :mixed:

I thought I ordered coarse ARM but actually got small instead. I think the small is better for surface area, thus it is more soluble. The only drawback I can see with the small ARM is it tends to attach itself to my pump strainer inlet. This can be avoided by placing a sponge in your reactor above the ARM.

Question- I have mine set up in my sump. When I do water changes I clean (empty) out my sump for that short period of time. Will turning it off until my water change is done cause any problems? Or will I have to go through mini cycles every time I do a water change? If there may be issues with doing this than I'll just leave it running in just the sump and do water changes in just the main tank. I don't want to hurt the way the system is running now as I like having 0 nitrate issues

Looking good. Replace those hoses with braided vinyl hoses so they don't kink. You can find them at HD, Lowes or Ace.

Thanks for the heads up on the hoses, I needed to go out and get some clamps anyways.
Another question:
Do I need a bleeder valve for gases when I have my return line at the top like I do? Won't the gases just come out with the efluent?

hi,,i have this diy unit running for a few month now,,,just want to know if my alk keep falling down all the time?? every time i bring it up and it keep going down,,,is this gonna happen for ever?? or does it stop some day,,,all i have is two part solution,,,
