Diy supplemental actinic led

Well, I have an old 120w chinese led fixture and am in the process of dismantling it and using about 10 of the royal blues as a supplemental actinic lighting source. The driver( 80-130v 520 ma) is driving 30 leds @ 2w. Is it possible for me to use the same driver to run only 10 leds?

how were the leds on the original pcb wired , in series i suspect. My guess is the output voltage of that driver is what's specified on it, 80-130v at 520mA. In which case No, you could not run only 10 LEDs on it. Also voltage over 50volts is dangerous to tinker with, be VERY, VERY careful if you decide to put a meter on it, and DO NOT touch anything with your hands while it is powered up. Make connections for the meter, power up, read the meter, power down.

Better yet just purchase the correct driver for 10 LEDs, might run you a whopping $10.
