DIY Wavebox Tutorial from start to finish!

Tunze is not sucking air and does not have anything stuck in it. I pulled one apart, cleaned it and put it in my tank outside of the wavebox and still the alarm goes off. I think it may be something that I did when I was building the control box. There were a few times that I tried it and it didnt work. I just dont want to spend over a hundred dollars on a new driver and then have the same thing happen.

Problem is two of the four streams constantly suck air into the tank.
I initially thought the problem was with the construction of two of the waveboxes so I switched a stream from a wavebox that was sucking air with one that was not.The stream that sucked in air carried on sucking air in a new wavebox. From this I deduced that the problem must be with the pump or the electronics and not the actual waveboxes.
It seems that two of the Tunze 6100`s are sucking stronger than the other two as they empty their water in the wavebox faster than the ones that do not suck air.Am I on the right track here?
I have ensured that the adjustment on all four drivers is set to maximum.
Any advice??

This is a an easy fix..
Make sure that the water level does not reach the stream pump when they ramp down. You need to adjust the pot so it's not set to maximum.

Sorry but I think this could be a problem between your Tunze controller and the Stream pump. I remember having the SAME issue with one of my 6100 (that was not used with the wavebox). The controller would beep for a couple of seconds or so but eventually stops. You might have to send it in.

XTM thanks, when you say the pot needs to be adjusted down are you reffering too the adjuster on the Tunze driver or the custom controller?
The sweet spot in my tank seems to be just as the water in the wavebox hits the stream pump when at its lowest....any advice?

I'm referring to the one in the DIY controller. Just tune it so it barely hits the top of the stream pump. Another idea is to simply move the entire box lower in the aquarium so that it's sufficiently submerged.

Ok will tune the DIY controller but need to amend it first as the min sucks air and the max sucks air.Do I need to increase the range of the frequency?
What I cant understand is why two dont suck air where the other two streams do suck air.
Same size waveboxes,same 6100 pumps...any idea?

first time across this thread, i guess i have a couple of questions. why do you need a box for the tunze, but the vortech is able to achieve wave with no box? is it simply a matter of flow? I bought 2 6105's which should be able to achieve the same thing as a vortech (without the ugly box) no?

2nd - even though tunze's are variable isn't the constant on/off still an issue? is the pump in the actual wavebox modified in some way to negate the effects of the on/off?

Have not seen many people post back with large tanks or cubes. my new tank is 48X42X20 anyone try one of of these with such a wide tank wondering if its possible to get this much movement.

Hello, at first i must say I'm impressed. Good job, XTM.

I built this controller and it worked fine the first time i tried.
But my 7204/2 are not really the right model for a Wavebox.

So is decited to buy a 6301.

That's why I'm in trouble now :D
I'm gettin' mad: The controller is doing absoluteley nothing.
The Board ist not getting +Vcc.
The thing is: My 7095 Multicontroller works for this pump - WHY? :eek1:

Is there anybody who has figured out the right Pins 4 controlling a 6301?

There ist a Voltage of -8V somewhere.
Maybe its works inverse?

As you can imagine I'm seiously unhappy about this.
Since I'm not en expert in electronic's the only thing i can do is just sitting here and hope for a helping hand :hmm6:

In future is like to have the 6301 as my main-pump and the 7402/2 as additional pumps, 'cause my tank is 1,1m deep and 1,8 meters wide.
There must be moved much water to get a good wave i think.

A last question: Would the Tunze singlecontroller fit for my project?
I don't know waht timings he offers.
This could be an alternative to a DIY as long as i do not know how to connect.

Help please, how to slow down wave.

Help please, how to slow down wave.

Hi, great post, just finished the build of the box and controller, with a 6100 pump, the problem is I fitted a 470k pot not the 500k recomended, and the On /off is to fast, is this because I fitted a 470k? Pot, at present I am not getting a wave at all.

Hi, it has probably been said before, but can this wavebox be controlled by a Tunze Multicontroller? I'm asking this because these controllers don't seem to stop the pump completely, only slow it down to 30%.

Thanks

I haven't seen any replies for people wanting others to build, but I'm interested as well. I can send PayPal and cover shipping. I just don't have the necessary tools or skills to make one of these. If anyone is interested in making one of these I would be very grateful. I could also trade for a 7091 controller (and cover shipping both ways, you cover the cost of the DIY controller). Any takers?

You cannot use the multicontroller. There is a Tunze controller which brings the pump to a full halt but it only comes with the Tunze wavemaker.

better circuit

better circuit

Hi all,

I remember I saw a wave box circuit that had feed timer, photon cell support based on this thread.

I searched everywhere on the Internet and could not find it any more. Could anyone provide me a link? Thanks in advance.
