DIY Wavebox Tutorial from start to finish!

riverman, yes, you can put a wavebox in a 9' tank. You just have to tune it to match the tank so that you get a continuous wave instead of them crashing against one another.

As for where to place it, I would build the box and then run it internally. Figure out where it works best both height wise and front/back placement. Also make sure its going to do what you want, and THEN drill the hole. The experiments will tell you where to drill it.

Randy, thanks for the feedback. So you think a standard Tunze wavemaker will work ok in a tank this long ? Maybe I should borrow one first and try it out, it might be a bit tough to find someone that kind though.

Here is a schematic of all the parts and pieces I used with an led.

The colors and the legend definitely helps!

hey guys, so i just built another board using deuce67's schematic, this time it turns on and off however my 6055 has almost become the state of the food timer which is avaliable on the single controller. also the LED only turns on at initial plug in and after that it turns off and never to come back on again even though the pump is turning on and off

has anyone else tried this controller on a 6055 other than aries70?

All the capacitors i used is rated for 25V.

Due to the max power of Tunze is 24v, so 25v cap is good enough?

How about resistor ? So many diff W ..... don't know which one is suitable ~~

I use Tunze 6100 with this DIY controller and ran it without the wavebox. I get pretty good wave on my 75gal without the box. My question is does the wave cause stress on the fishes? Three of the my fishes die after running the wavebox. Do you run the wavebox 24/7 or do run it only during the day?

Mine has the light sensor, so it's off "at night".

I don't see why your fish would die; might take them a bit to get used to it, but I don't see it stressing them out to the point of death (however, some fish ARE more finicky/sensitive than others, so...).

???

Im not sure. Im dont really understand electronics but i can read a daigram. When I went in the electronic store, I got overwhelmed with the various types myself. But since all the parts ranged from .05 to .35 cents. I just picked up whatever. It worked.

I bought those parts yesterday, some outlook is diff from yours.
Are those correct ?
(one extra resistor is for LED)

Couldn't find a 555 timer.....did find a 955 timer and was gonna give it a try anyways.

Fiance went with me and when she saw me with a hand full of tiny things and the project box she finally inquired. Let's just say that a 6091 has been ordered. :D

I don't know I bought all correct parts or not.

Just wonder that why XTM's 1K£[ resistor is so large?
(Larger than (R2) 20K£[ resistor)

This is really really cool but I don't think it would work on a 25"x21"x16" tank maybe someday if I get a larger tank i'd do this

I saw one of the demo tank in a shop, just a 12" but use MP20.
It is very cool and funny ~~~

I have my wavebox run 24/7 at first. But after this incident I turn it off during the night. Can tell me how to you add the light sensor to the circuit?

the 6055 has a min/max of 12v/24v

Not the supply voltage ....
