DIY Wavebox Tutorial from start to finish!

Has anyone been able to find all of the controller parts at one place online? I have looked at allelectronics as suggested but am having a hard time finding the right parts. Particularly the 10 uF electrolytic cap. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the help Aries. One last item, the 5 pin din cable. I see where they sell the plug but it doesn't look like the whole cable. Do they sell it there? Thanks again!

ok I got an AT keyboard extension cable off ebay and cut the female end off and wired it into the controller, sorry I didn't get everything from allelectronics ;) don't get an 5pin midi cable it doesn't use all of the pins needed for the controller

Well i have just upgraded my tank to a 1000mm x 410mm x 600mm deep tank and thought my nano tunze might not be man enough!

But it still works a treat and i get a nice 3/4" wave, gentle sway and only had to go up to 20 volts on the transformer!

Fish love it and the extra space!

I simply love this DIY controller!

Love this site and all you guys and girls!

Question--What is the benefit of putting the pump in the wavebox vs just leave it out in the tank?

since the powerhead will be using the same controller-- can someone educate me on this?

I am good with micro-controller, would running the powerhead using PWM 30%-100% is better or OFF and On, what does the "real" tunze wave box do?
ON and OFF, if so, then I go with this easy route.

thank you

IMO the box produces a stronger wave then without, it also moves water everywhere in tank unlike without box

external box

external box

I did an external box on my 225 gallon I just set up. I used all of the parts from a tunze box and and welded an acrylic box to the outside of my tank. Works great and throws a 2" wave with no sacrifice in space.

Here are a couple of pics...sorry for the color, its hard to get a good picture with 3 400 watt MH and another 400 watts of VHO actinic, lol

Having trouble getting my controller right. Finished assembling everything and when I try to adjust the timing with the pot, it has a very narrow range of adjustment. If you turn it all the way to one side it will pulse very rapidly then barely turning the other direction will slow it but then it just goes to full on. Probably 98% of the pot has the pump on all the way. Anyone have a thought?

mine also has a narrow range of adjustment but I don't experience the other probs you describe mine is either too rapid or so slow it draws in air before cycling sorry can't help with your problem tho

Sounds like what I am experiencing. Does anyone know of a way to increase the range of adjustment though? Thanks again Aries for you help.
