dKh 13-14!!

I have a high Alk situation in my tank. It reads between 13 and 14 dKh.

I have a Ca reactor running and dialed in after messing with it for weeks. Finally the PH is steady in the chamber and not going up and down all the time. This has been steady for the last 4 weeks.

My other readings are:

Ca 440
Mg 1300~
dKh 13-14

Should I do anything about this or leave it alone?

Thanks,

Ben

lower it slowely. reduce the effluent drip rate a small mount per week. i would lower alk to no higher then 11.

on a side note. i found it very difficult to use a calcium reactor on a smaller tank . i tried it and had a very hard time keep things stable.

even on my 350gal system now a still use 2 part and my system never varies more then .5 dkh per week. granted i use 100ml of brs mix a day but still more stable.

i wouldnt think you need to do a waterchange unless you notice problems(cant hurt though). either raise internal ph up a little or lower drip rate.

13-14 dKH usually is safe, at least over the short term. I wouldn't worry. Turning down the effluent rate might be all that's needed. If any animals are in trouble, water changes with a lower-dKH salt product should help.

I'm a little worried as I see one frag of sps looking bad to the point of tissue disappearing and one more just not looking happy. All others se fine so it may have nothing to do with it.

I cut the effluent in half so I guess well find out soon if hat helps.
