Hey guys have a question,I am taking down my 60g sps tank to set up a 120g sps tank..But I have to move my really nice sps frags to a holding tank(40 breeder) wile I get the other set up and running..

My holding tank is new water RC and all params are fine but my dKH,it is at 12.4 atm..in my tank where the sps are now I have to dose just to keep it above 7.2 dKH..

Will my sps get shocked by difference,or will they eat up that extra dKH and yell YUMMMM....??

Thanks

Aside from bringing water in from the 60g I don't think there is much you can do that wouldn't throw every other parameter off. I once overdosed soda ash solution grabbing it instead of Ca, and my Alk went up to 16dKh; I burnt a few tips but that was all.

if the corals are "hardy" they'll go YUM.

if they're sensitive the tips might bleach- especially if you run an "ultra low nutrient" (extreme low PO4 + low nitrate) type system.
