Do acrylic tanks and sumps get algae in their micropores? Does it block visibility, how so?

yes, especially coraline algae. To me it makes the tank cloudy, even after cleaning with muratic acid.

How about algae in a refugium?

i have had acrylic tanks for years and have never had algae cloud the tank surface. Simply take a credit card and remove the algae regularly and the tank will look fine.
