Do all gobies jump?

I am wondering are there any gobies that do not jump. I would like to get a pistol shrimp and goby pair but scared the goby might jump out and the shrimp may have to goto solo.

Most fishes can jump, some more likely than the others. No one can really tell if a particular fish would end up on the floor.

Pretty much.

I've never seen an angler jump, but that's about it.

My Diamond Goby hasn't jumped in the 2 years I've had him.Other gobies are notorious for it though.

Mine just died from carpet surfing last week.

If you do not have some sort of cover on the tank then it is just a matter of time before one goes carpet surfing.

Putting a top on the aquarium is one of, if not the easiest ways to protect our investment and our fishes lives. If you care about your fish, put a top on it, and take it off for pictures if you have a rimless and like the look.

They jumped so predictably when I worked in the store that we often caught them before they hit the floor and tossed them back in the tank.

Yes. All Gobies can and will jump... At least that's the approach i would take. I used to work in LFS many years ago. All aquariums had hinged glass lids that left a small gap in the back. Nearly every type of fish at one time or another took a leap of faith from the usual suspects of eels, wrasses and gobies to the less predictable jumpers like angels and tangs. Even after seeing this with my own eyes, my home aquarium didn't have a perfect top and my female percula jumped out after about 3 years and a flame hawk after 2 years. A little late to make a long story short but just play it safe.
