Do anemones shed their skin?

Had a rather strange event lastnight with my RTBA. Everything seemed normal with it. I went into fish room for 5 minutes and when I came back RTBA had strings of slimy brown stuff hanging off it. Its mouth was gaping and it deflated. This lasted for an hour or so until its pink skunk basically got it all cleaned off. Today its out and looks normal. What happened?

Lights just came on and RTBA is out and happy. I'm still new at keeping these so I was pretty worried when this event happened. Thanks for all the input.
