The title says it all. My Tomini Tang is about eighteen months old. He was very small when I got him. He has a dark mark where a scalpel should be, but no sharp protrusion. I was just wondering if any of your Bristletooths have them.
As my female clownfish can attest, bristletooth tangs do have scalpels. My kole has sliced her up before while she was defending eggs. Their scalpels just stay retracted most of the time.
