Do clams change color as they age?

I have an 8" Derasa which is doing great, but it doesn't have the pedigreed coloring of some other Derasas that I've seen on the market. Will the colors change at all? I've heard that Squamosas get better with age. Is that true?

also depends on lighting./ if they dont get enough light they ll turn brown

I've had my baby maxima for about a month and a half. It really started coloring up when I started spot feeding it photo.
