I woke up this morning to a "skin" of my cleaner shrimp laying on the sand... panicked a bit until I saw him on a rock. They molt? Could it be stress induced; I did move the rocks around quite a bit yesterday.... pics attached of the "skin" and the shrimp:

First time my coral banded molted I thought he died. Now I just yell at him for molting in a spot that is hard for me to get the carcass.

Molt, yes, sometimes brought on by time, sometimes by change in environmental conditions, usually at night, usually they hide until new molt hardens in a day or two.

Mine molts like clockwork every 3 weeks. It's just a sign of a healthy shrimp doing what shrimp do.

FYI, they typically hide more on the day after a molt, since they are more vulnerable during this time while their new shell hardens.

EDIT: Just realized I repeated exactly what Uncle said.

I almost had a heart attack the first time a shrimp molted (I have cleaners & a fire), even though I had been warned. You are not alone! ;-)
