Do corals hold grudges?

I had a little problem before I upgraded some of my equipment. One this I had before was the swing arm thing which was way off. I got a refractometer back in december so I fixed that. Also upgraded my lights and got my parameters stable as I can for the past few months

My sps corals are doing a lot better and growing fast. All but a couple that haven't done anything.

My monitora cap ( red) hasn't grown at all in months. which is supposed to be a fast grower.

Everything has great color and polyp extension but some just aren't growing. Could they still be stressed? Its been since about January since everything has been stable

There has been quite a few stressor situations:

1. Salinity being off; big stressor
2. Equipment upgrades; can be minor
3. Light upgrades; can be big stressor
4. Parameters being unstable; can be a big stressor

All of these combined can cause some corals to stop growing. However, just to be sure, check for Monti eating nudis etc. If acros then check for AEFW's.

Most likely its just due to the many changes having taken place.
The other thing to consider is light levels: I upgraded from 144watts of T5+LED to 267watts of T5+LED. Most of my corals took the change very well. However, one coral stopped growing for nearly 5 months "“ a deepwater Acro (think it's a Lokani).

About a month ago, I moved the coral into a shaded area out of direct light. This coral has now grown more in that 1 month compared to the whole prior 5 months. It has completely based out and growing a new branch as well as colouring up purple with a green base. Before, in direct light it was just green with brown tips. I think it was being photo inhibited which basically means the coral is doing everything it can to stay alive and that's about it. No energy to grow.

Just carry out the checks for pests, keep parameters stable and ensure that you are carrying out regular water changes to keep the elements in balance/ at adequate levels. Hopefully within a few weeks the rest of your corals will perk up.</O:p

Yeah they've always looked fine with good polyp extension and what not just never really grew
. my Params were off with my mag and calc and alk. Nitrates phosphates and everything ave always elbeen perfect.

+1 to what Sahin said.

You may not have this issue, because it sounds like a stability thing, but don't starve them. My tank was way too clean, and I had so-so colors and little to no growth for a year. Just keep in mind, I mean no-algae-on-the-glass kind of clean. I've been feeding my fish at three times the frequency, and I now have algae on the glass and the corals are actually growing.

That suggestion is probably not directly related to your issue, but after battling starvation for a year, I think it's worth posting.

Make sure your calibrating your refractometer with 35ppt solution every now and then, and not ro water.

Yeah my tank gets a dusting over the glass ever couple days.. I clean the back glass about once a month once it gets ugly.. I think that I had a too clean tank about a year ago when I was trying so hard to keep it clean as I heard sps love clean water.. After I stopped I noticed my corals looking and growing better.
