do cowrie snails eat corals??

I just got a cowrie snail in my 75g reef tank and I noticed the next day my star polyp which has grown to almost cover a whole rock isn't showing it's polyps in the daytime.

there's lots of different Cowrie species. A lot of them eat corals. It sounds like you have a coral eater.
