Do filament flasher wrasse need sand?

They don't bury themselves, they make a cacoon around them to sleep.

thanks, what happens to the cacoon after?
will it cause phos, ammonia, nitrate?

no they will make a mucus sack to sleep in and they will swallow it when they wake .no problems with po4.or anything else .

Fairy and flasher wrasses do not use/need sand as Dave says. Leopard wrasses require sand.

They do require a top cover on your tank though. It's a must.

oh yes and a well covered tank is a must .they are escape artists .
