Do flasher wrasses get along with other flashers?

Just wondering how flashers get along with other flashers or fairys.

I've had both in the past. But was wondering how multiple ones would do.

Thanks,

Charley

Snorvich or wrasseman are the ones to answer but I believe snorvich's sig says he has flashers in one tank and fairies in another. But both are huge tanks. Generally, I'd say combos can be done. Some fairies are a bit aggressive so check your species. People seem to do one or the other, either flashers or fairies. I've never kept either.

Gotcha well this is on a smaller scale no doubt... 40 gallons.

I was thinking something like this...

The flashers you chose will survive in that tank but I would avoid the fairy's. Choose one. I'm sure other's disagree. they both display and fairy's need the room. I have flame wrasses on my 120 with females and if you can see when the male displays, he makes the 120 looks small.

So your saying. Go with one Fairy.

Or two flashers but don't combine the two?

You can combine a flasher and a fairy, but some fairies get big 6"s or so. The Mckosers is a nice wrasse. I have one now in a 120 with a diamond tail flasher. I'm not sure I would keep two in a 40, maybe a male and female fairy would work better. One of the smaller varieties.

You can combine them just fine, mulitple fairys, multiple flasher, or a mix of the two. Some species exceptions do apply.

A 40g tank makes it a bit more constraining, however. The only Cirrhilabrus I'd consider for a 40 are ones of the lubbocki complex (as you've already taken an interest to). All of the other Cirrhilabrus get too large for a tank of that size.

You might also wish to consider possum wrasses instead of a fairy.

Yeah I noticed all the other fairys get fairly large.

As for the possum I like them. My dad hates them. So don't think that will work. He threatens to kick me out. When I put something "ugly" in the tank. :P

Sooo all that said. I'm thinking tossing the fairy wrasse.

And going with the two above flashers. What do ya'll think of that plan?

Should be fine if you introduce them at the same time. If you introduce one later, you'll also be alright if you use an acclimation box for a few days on the new guy.

Okay! So after reading more!

I am thinking of doing a Male and female... How will this work. Do they have to be of the same type? Will all males and females get along, or will some fight?

Thanks,

charley

Finding females typically isn't as straightforward as it sounds.

All the same species would be best, but not necessarily a requirement. Harems get mixed in the wild.

LiveAquaria sells females in some of there flashers.

Do I have to get a harem? Meaning 3? Or can I just get two? Male + Female.

Good thread. I've never actually kept wrasses before, but would like to keep one or two in my Solana if possible.
